Curriculum Vitae

Person Profile:

I am a very active person who likes to go swimming and to compete in team sports such as, netball and rounders.  I enjoy reading a wide range of literature and I find surfing the Internet an immediate and comprehensive way of broadening my knowledge. I am a reliable person with excellent time keeping skills; this is evident from my school attendance and punctuality record as well as from my work experience, which led into me being given a weekend job. I am also extremely hard-working: always ready to meet and complete any challenge with enthusiasm and self-motivation but heedful of the importance of listening to advice given in order to learn more quickly. My positive communication skills and confident personality help me to adapt to most situations with ease and provide me with the ability to fit into a wide range of groups in whatever role I am asked to perform.

Employment:

September 2007- present- Next Retail Store

Currently I work in the Next Retail store at the Team Valley Trading Estate, working an 8 hour contract in the Children’s Department. I work as part of a team to provide good customer service and to increase the level of sales within the department. This career choice has helped me to improve my ability of working in a team as well as my communication and customer service skills.

July 2005- September 2007- The Hair Studio, Birtley

I first began at The Hair Studio after completing a week’s work experience, during my time at the salon; I worked under 2 trained hair stylists as a hairdressing junior, responding to pre-empting their needs as much as possible. My confidence grew daily and I then continued to develop my knowledge and abilities by gaining more responsibilities within the salon as well as working more hours during school holidays whenever I could.

Work experience:

April 2008- June 2008- Felling Surestart Centre

For 6 weeks I voluntarily worked within a young children and mother group in my spare time in order to see how children’s centre operated while increasing my knowledge of children’s early years’ development.

June 2008- Bede Children’s centre

I completed a week’s work experience in a children’s centre in order to see how centres like this worked and the roles within them. I participated in different groups that the local centres offered to people of the community as well as visiting local health clinics and estates and families with new born babies.

September 2006- The Hair Studio

I completed a week’s work experience in a hair salon in order to see what was included in the average day of being a hairdresser. During the week I worked under two trained hair stylists supporting their needs as much as I possibly could. The week’s experience I completed led me to be given a permanent weekend job in the salon.

Achievements:

During my first year of studying Sport in Sixth Form, I achieved a Sports Leadership award and a Basic Emergency First Aid Award. Since performing my voluntary roles I now also have a fully up to date CRB check.
